Band
Band is an exciting experience that allows students to play an instrument and travel to new places in and out of Canada. In class the students learn to play and harmonize with their fellow band members while occasionally getting lessons from Guest Conductors on how band affects a persons life. The students can also test their skills by playing with the rest of the band, or with a small group, or even solo, in the Yorkton Music Festival.
The Band program also allows the students to join along in yearly trips across the country and participate in an even wider scope of events by performing at other schools, festivals, and have a chance to explore the local community. There is also a wide range of courses that may be experienced without having signed up for the band course. There is Marching band, Jazz band and Pep band. Band News:
This course is also an excellent way to build up and develop team spirit, self discipline, teamwork, and helps the students learn how to set goals and accomplish them. The Yorkton Regional High School band program currently has many different extracurricular bands, for those musicians who just can't get enough of making music for the enjoyment of others. These are our other bands: Jazz I The Jazz I is an auditioned band, playing anything from swing to blues. This band contains many wonderful musicians whose courage for playing solos is definately worth the recognition. Jazz II Jazz II is another jazz band. In this band you are not required to audition. This is great for those who have a desire to experience the different musical style of jazz. No experience is necessary. Marching 100 Our school's Marching 100 is a well known band. They have been on many trips taking them to Edmonton, Regina, and many other places for the Grey Cup game. They have also been to Pasadina for the Rose Bowl. The Marching 100 is always willing to perform locally.Often they perform at Century Field in Yorkton.
