POCKETS ATHLETES OF THE MONTH

The Pockets Yorkton Regional High School Female Athlete of the Month for October is Avery Westberg.  Avery is a grade eleven student at the YRHS.  Avery is involved in many sports within and outside of school.  Avery plays on the Regional Soccer team, and runs on the Cross Country team.  Last year Avery also played for the Senior Ladies Basketball team, and Avery also runs track.  Last summer Avery traveled to Sheirbrook, Quebec with team Saskatchewan to compete at Junior Nationals.  Avery placed 10th in the 1500 and 15th in the 3000.  Both races were out of 30.  At the end of November Avery will be traveling to Guelph, Ontario to compete in Cross Country Nationals against women nineteen and under from all across Canada.  She is looking forward to starting indoor track and running for the Yorkton Legion Track Club.  Avery would like to thank her coaches and her supporting family.  Congratulations Avery!

The Pockets Yorkton Regional High School Male Athlete of the Month for October is Adam McCannell.  Adam is a Grade 9 student who came to the Yorkton Regional High School from MC Knoll School.  In school he plays football, basketball and participates in track and field.  Out of school he plays hockey, baseball and golf.  He is a strong leader in all of the sports, but in football, hockey and baseball he is one of his team captains.  He is a great team player and always leads by example.  Congratulations Adam!
